Whilst Somerton could not muster sufficient candidates to have an election for the town council, the District Council seat of Wessex at least provided a contest. Dean Ruddle now finds himself in the enviable/unenviable position of being town, District and County councillor for Somerton! Ilminster saw a fractious campaign that started off with a dispute over the agenda for the last Town Council meeting before the election. 9 new independent councillors stood for election under the banner “Voice for Ilminster”.
