Somerset County Council are to start a major engineering scheme to upgrade drainage on the A372 at Aller this week. The section of Aller Road and High Street has been subject to issues with standing water and localised flooding in the past.
This scheme will replace the whole drainage system along a 550m stretch of road, including new chambers, covers and gullies. The scheme is programmed to run from Monday 11th September until Friday 20th October. Due to the need for open trenches in the carriageway it will be necessary to close the road 24/7 to keep both the workforce and the travelling public safe.
Businesses will remain open as usual and access for residents and landowners along the closed stretch of road will be maintained. You are asked to contact the staff on site with any queries
SCC have suggested diversion route suitable for all vehicles can be found at www.travelsomerset.co.uk/roadworks but as ever with any road closure, drivers may well find more direct alternatives using their local knowledge!
